Pam & Matt: A Florian Gardens Wedding

Meet Matt & Pam.

The shot above was taken by Emily, my second shooter. I loooove it.

The wreath shot and bridesmaid bouquet shot were taken by Emily.

Isn’t this church gorgeous? Pam’s family was involved in planning for this church to be built.

After the ceremony, we stopped at a few pubs. My favorite was The Livery in downtown Eau Claire. It was a pretty cool place. And the portraits below with all the trees? That was a random driveway on a random road off of our path. Seriously. It was one of those, “HEY! Bus driver, please stop here!” kind of things. And I love these photos.

After the pubs and portraits, we headed to Banbury Place in Eau Claire. This is an old factory that has been renovated into a huge multi-use space. It’s also a great location for portraits. Minus one unfortunate tumble into some bushes, we had a great time here. Pam and Matt even ran into some friends who, coincidentally, also were married on the same day. And they were having pictures at the same place. At the same time. Crazy, I know.

How great is this champagne shot? I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it was all Pam & Matt. The whole series of photos is pretty fun.

This next shot is my second favorite of the entire day. I really love black and white photos, and this one just seems so…. perfect.

Their reception was at Florian Gardens in Eau Claire, WI. Their reception details were so impressive! You could tell that a lot of thought went into the decor, desserts, centerpieces, and color scheme. They had a chartreuse (green) and gray theme throughout their whole day. (Plus purple kept showing up at Florian Gardens. It really coordinated well!). Pam and Matt are the first couple who ever asked about matching Pantones for their guest book. You could definitely tell she was in the design field… but if you remember their engagement session, it was pretty obvious then, too!

I’m a HUGE fan of Kate Spade. In fact, I’m pretty infatuated by her handbags and wallets. So… allow me to introduce you to my new favorite wedding reception detail: Kate Spade Darling champagne flutes. If you look close, you can see where it says “Mr.” and “Mrs.” on each flute.

Emily and I had fun playing with the reception lighting to get some unusual effects. I like it. :)

This final shot = favorite shot of the day. Perfection.

Pam & Matt, you were awesome to work with! Emily and I enjoyed being part of your day. Special thanks to Emily for joining me as second shooter- I hope we can do it again! Westlake Inn Wedding : Tahnee and Chris

Meet Tahnee and Chris…an super fabulous couple that just radiantes happiness and love. I don’t think they could stop smiling even if they tried. We had such a great time photographing their wedding, from the super fun bridal party (one of whom I have since declared my honorary wedding crasher…you know who you are girl and I hope to see you this year too ), to the toasts that had us laughing and smiling right along with the guests, to the great celebration that went on throughout the night. So, I think I’ve gone over my to-do list the third time now, haha! Our little peanut is supposed to come by the end of the week, and we are soooooo ready! :o) I wish I could count down the days until I finally get to hold our baby in my arms, but then it doesn’t want to tell me when the big day will be here, haha … so mama is waiiting and waiiiiting :o)

My email auto responder is already turned on, and I’m sorry in advance for any delayed emails from my end …. I’m probably cleaning the house and doing laundry …. haha.

I’ll keep you guys posted about our new arrival, and I’m sure there will be an overload of newborn photos once it makes it big entrance ;o)

Until then …. I hope everybody is doing well :o)

While we’re still waiting for *our* baby to arrive (haha), I was able to sneak in yet an other session, this time with ADORABLE Caroline, who is turning one next weekend :o) Love this little girl :o)

Quebec City in winter

Just before Christmas Ryan and I decided to take a few days vacation for ourselves and travel to one of our favourite destinations; Quebec City. Quebec City is beautiful at any time of year but it was exceptionally stunning in the snow and with all the holiday lights. For a few days we just walked around the city visiting shops, eating the best croissants and onion soup in Canada and taking some much needed new couples portraits of us. If you know anything about Ryan and I, you know that we love to stay at the Canadian Fairmont brand hotels. We love them because they are steeped in history, and have a style of architecture that we believe to be very Canadiana (i.e: the copper roof to name one feature.)

This time we stayed at the fabulous Chateau Frontenac in Vieux Quebec. This is probably my favourite hotel of them all. What I find truly fascinating about it is some of the people who have stayed there, like Kings and Queens (Grace Kelly), even Alfred Hitchcock filmed the movie I, Confess there. We walked around the hotel picking out scenes from the movie and trying to figure out where Hitchcock would have sat while directing them. This is the 6th Canadian Fairmont we have stayed at thus far, so we are well on our way to our two year goal of staying at all 21 destinations over the next 2 years. It was a short trip. Actually it was too short so we are planning another trip to Quebec City for new years!

So excited to watch the fireworks over this beautiful city.

We hiked to the top of the fort for a amazing view of the Frontenac.

Quebec City is the best for night time photos. Every building is so creatively lit. Makes for some romantic cityscape photos.

I love this photo.

Erin & Nate’s La Crosse, WI engagement session

Meet Erin & Nate. Please don’t confuse them with Erin & Pat, because Erin & Nate were bridesmaid/groomsman in Erin & Pat’s wedding. :) They are getting married at the Minnesota Science Museum next year, and I can’t wait! Since they went to school at University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, we met in La Crosse for their engagement photos. If you’ve spent any amount of time in La Crosse, you may recognize this first location as a favorite hangout. It’s The Bodega.

They brought some white boards for a fun “Save the Date” idea. But we also used them for something else… I asked them to write down one thing they loved about each other. I loved this whole series of photos. :)

Apparently, Erin’s sense of humor is every bit as corny as mine. A little bird told me she loves this joke:

“Where does the president keep his armies?”

Answer: “Up his sleevies”. Hahahaha.

Earlier in the day, we stopped at The Pearl for fun candy. Introducing: candy mustache and candy lips.
