Traverse Blogging | Chili Mission

While it is always sad to see summer go, I love fall!  The pumpkin, the sweaters, the perfect sleeping weather.  One thing I really look forward to is putting my Dad’s chili back into rotation for dinner!  While I know a lot of people serve it year round, for me it’s something I just don’t want when it’s 90º+!  This week the snap in temperatures finally happened and suddenly I was craving some chili and a long afternoon spent on the couch with my kitty and Kindle.  Since I needed some supplies to make it, I hurried on over to our local Acme to pick up the supplies I needed.

blue skies and clouds
Since it was such a beautiful day I decided to open up the sunroof. Gorgeous day!

flavored beer
Another sure sign that Fall is here is Pumpkin Beer! I’ve tried quite a few and my favorite is still Blue Moon. I also enjoy hard cider but sadly Magners isn’t carried in Ohio.

Acme liquor store
About a year or two ago, our local Acme got it’s license to sell liquor. To some people this is no big deal, but for our city this was HUGE. North Canton used to be a dry city, with Eric’s Grocery Bag being the only place in the city limits that you could even purchase beer. Slowly things started changing though and it’s a huge perk to finally have a liquor store in the grocery store. They are well stocked and priced!

Hmm, I’m starting to sound like I went to the store for something OTHER than chili ingredients??? LOL!

Icabod Pumpkin Ale
After perusing the aisles in hopes that THIS would be the time I would find Magners (sadly, no) I ended up deciding that Icabod Pumpkin Ale would be the perfect choice to start off fall with. Ironically I am not much of a beer drinker. I prefer light and fruity drinks (or Magners) but I do enjoy Pumpkin Beer and Yuengling. Weird I know.

birthday cards

After picking up some groceries for the week, as well as what I needed for the chili, I made my way to the card aisle to find a birthday card for a friend. Sorry Kristen, they all were way too… pink and fluttery. I don’t do the emotional fluttery cards. I prefer funny, sarcastic cards! Ah well… I’ll keep on looking. There’s got to be a singing Yoda card for you somewhere!

groceries in the Traverse
My groceries fit easily in the Traverse with loads of room to spare. I could have probably bought that entire wall of beer and made it work! I’m also glad that I grabbed the reusable bags out of my Envoy. Those bags are so handy but I am ALWAYS forgetting them or Hubs takes them to work for his lunch and they are never to be seen again. I originally had two of the Woodstock ones but one has been missing for well over a year. The sock monster and the reusable bag monster must be in cahoots!

Random side note, my Dad went to Woodstock so the chili goods are in that bag as an homage to him. Yes, I’m weird.

chili in the crock pot
Today the chili is slowly cooking to perfection while the clouds roll in. It’s a perfect fall day!

I had a lot of fun going to the store and getting excited for fall! It helps that my Traverse is a lovely apple red, perfect for the season!

Chevy Girl on the Go!

View Photographer Profile

A couple months ago, a past bride of mine Sarah sent me a link to an application to be a Chevy Girl on the Go for their time in Cleveland.  I applied and then found out I wasn’t chosen (bummer!) and went along my merry way.  A few weeks later though I was contacted and ta-da!  I’m the new Chevy Girl on the Go this month!  What does that mean??  It means that I’ll be driving a 2011 Traverse this month so if you’re familiar with my 2009 GMC Envoy I’ll be tooling around in something different for most of September (I can’t drive it out of the area so I’ll be hopping in my Envoy for some weddings) and blogging about my adventures here as well as on Chevy’s site.  So be prepared to be inundated with some Traverse stuff in the coming month.  However, I promise since I’m a photographer it will all have picture goodies :)  Each week Chevy will be sending me on missions and I’ll be reporting back my thoughts on each mission which includes seeing how much groceries I can fit inside and other fun trips.  I look forward to taking you all along my adventure!
