Sharon and Daniel traveled across country to be married at the San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey. Following their church wedding they headed to Gatherings in Pacific Grove for their reception. With the weather turning perfect for sunset photos they headed over to Lovers Point to capture some special images. Thanks to Matt Kim for 2nd shooting with me and capturing the guys getting ready.
Sharon and Daniel share a special moment at Lovers Point in Pacific Grove.

Matt Kim makes sure the guys look just right for their photos while the seagulls have other things on the minds.

Doria and Jamin’s wedding was full of personalized touches. From her mother’s necklace that served as her “something borrowed”, to the florals at the reception, almost every aspect of their Sunday wedding here in Birmingham was created by Doria, Jamin, and their family and friends. With Stacey out of town visiting family, I was blessed to have the super-talented Alisa Lynn join me to document a beautiful wedding on a gorgeous day!
The couple’s ceremony took place at the Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills, with the cocktail hour and reception following at the Vestavia Country Club. Doria paid close attention to the details for her wedding day, and I feel like it really showed in the images! She was stunning and glamorous the whole day, and after watching her interaction with Jamin, it was so obvious how truly in love they are!
Music for the reception was provided by In the Mix USA out of Atlanta, and the bride’s cake was created by the ever-wonderful Jan O’Donnell from Cakes by Jan.
To Doria and Jamin, thank you so much for asking us to be part of your big day! Your day was truly gorgeous, and a blast to document through pictures. And to Alisa, thank you so much for sharing your amazing talents with us for a day. We were blown away by the images you captured!
Here’s a “few” of our favorites from the big day …

The theme for Kate and Alex’s wedding was built around the letters that spanned the entire first year of their relationship. As guests entered The Lyman Estate, the front table was covered in personal letters that Kate and Alex had hand written to each of their guests. They were stamped with vintage Australian stamps (Australia is where Kate and Alex are now living). The letters served as escort cards, sending the guests to their table for dinner … and each table was named after the date of one of the original letters. (You can see more about their letters in Alex and Kate’s engagement session, here.)

Before dinner, Kate’s sister, Alex’s brother, and both dads gave sweet toasts. Like everything about the day, these were incredibly genuine, emotional and funny.

After dinner, there was cake and then dancing. The first dance was great, and I loved that everyone formed a semi-circle around them:

Alex’s dad’s band played for the evening and they were AWESOME (as can be seen from the crazy dance party than ensued). I’m awaiting confirmation of their name, but if you’re looking for a fantastic band, let me know and I’ll put you in touch.

A few more crazy/fun dancing shots … and the rest will have to be enjoyed privately by Kate and Alex at a later date … it was kinda out of control!

Thank you, everyone, for an incredibly fun day and night. I hope you’ve enjoyed the teasers!

As the summer shooting season starts winding down for Stacey and me, we were so blessed to spend Saturday with Courtney and Michael, at one of the coolest little churches we’ve seen in a long time! We were also grateful for their willingness to brave the heat and shoot some portraits with us around Christ Church of Branch Cove. Courtney was styled to perfection thanks to Birmingham Glam!
Courtney was all about some killer details, including an awesome pair of PURPLE Manolo Blahnik’s. Seriously gorgeous! That, paired with some gorgeous floral arrangements by Carol at Lillie’s Flowers! Courtney and Michael’s purple-inspired pallet meant that we had some AWESOME color popping all over the place!
Their reception was help at the Newton-Davis House, and was a perfect combination of a casual backyard get-together, and chic wedding reception. So in love with the table centerpieces, made up of mis-matched white vases and more of Lillies handywork! And many thanks to wedding planner Anita Kanellis, who made the day run SO smooth!
Michael and Courtney, thank you so much for having us as part of your big day, and enjoy a few of our early favorites!

• Sheena and Jeremy did their engagement session with me back in January and hired me to shoot their reception back home after getting married in beautiful Negril, Jamaica in June.
• I love the receptions that are hosted back home, in our head we always meant to do one but life got busy and we never got around to it. It’s such a great way to celebrate your wedding with people that weren’t able to make it to your destination wedding in a relaxed atmosphere.
• This commute (both to & from) will probably be my most memorable for a LONG time. On the way to Blue Canyon, I saw the strangest things on the road. There was an oversized semi toting a plaster whale tail that was easily the size of a house (still trying to figure that one out). There was a car that was duct taped together. The Goodyear Blimp was out, which caused many people to stop and look (mind you, I was on I-77, not where you really should be STOPPING to watch a blimp). Crazytown. I get to the hotel to meet up with Sheena + Jeremy and there’s nothing but twins. It was twinsfest in Twinsburg! LOL! On the way home, I had a raccoon run out in front of me and I swerved to miss him (no one was next to me) and ran over his friend behind him. I LOVE all animals so this gutted me and I was crying. Hubs was on my bluetooth laughing at me as I was really upset. Never, EVER look in your rearview mirror after running over an animal. Ugh, it was awful. Then I got pulled over – the first time I have EVER been pulled over. The cop saw me swerve and thought I was drunk – then right where I ran the raccoon over it went from 45 to 25 but in my tears I didn’t see the sign (why in the world is a highway 25?) so he clocked me doing 42 in a 25. Lovely. Luckily he let me off with a verbal warning once I explained what was going on to him. It’ll be a LONG time before I forget that drive!!!
• I had never been to Blue Canyon Kitchen and Tavern but had heard great things about it, they didn’t disappoint, such yummy food and a great location!
• Sheena and Jeremy have befriended Sarah from Main Street Cupcakes after going there so much for cupcake fixes. I completely understand this as I am the same way with my local cupcake place! So it only made sense that their favors were individual cupcakes in a darling box from Main Street Cupcakes! They were just as good as they looked. Sarah, you need a “south” location!!!
• One of the fun things I love about being a photographer is meeting so many great people. When I’m seated with guests, it’s fun to get to know people at the table and this table was not short of wonderful and nice people! We had a lot of laughs through the night and it was nice to not feel like an outsider!

Before the reception started I got some quick casual portraits of the newlyweds in a pretty shaded spot in the parking lot of the Hilton. Yes, this was part of the parking lot!

I loved their foot attire!!!

As a tip to their beach wedding, the tables were decorated in a beach motif. I LOVED these centerpieces!

Sheena is an AMAZING scrapbooker. I may be able to take pictures but I cannot scrapbook to save my life. Hers are amazing!!! She brought all of the scrapbooks and pictures from their wedding trip so everyone could enjoy the day they had.

Their favors from Main Street Cupcakes. SO good!

I had to play with the rings in the centerpiece!

The delicious dinner!

Closeup of the cute cute cute shoes Sheena was rockin!

A shot with their favors before I left!

Alright, I will admit it, I am not a good writer. Haha. I started of putting little captions in between the photos after I uploaded the photos, and all that came in my mind was “beautiful” & “pretty” – that’s because it just really was! So I guess I’ll maybe just let the photos speak for themselves for once. :o)
Jessica & Chris, thanks so much for sharing your BEAUTIFUL day with us. It was a truly wonderful wedding at a wonderful venue, and you 2 were wonderful to work with, … what should I say, it was just a really PRETTY wedding! :o) My very best wishes to both of you & I hope you guys are enjoying Hawai’i :o)
Jessica & Chris celebrated their ceremony at the St. Dominic Chapel on the Providence College Campus and held their reception at the beautiful Providence Biltmore.

Meet Jessica, the beautiful bride:

Isn’t she just a beauty??

What a beautiful chapel!

Haha. Chris showing off his new blingy accessory, his wedding band :o)

Looved the colors and the pretty flowers, the ties, the boutonnieres, BEAUTIFUL!

And while we’re at it, let’s show some more details … :o)

I’m putting a couple photos from Geneve into this set, so check out her work, she’s awesome.
Awwww :o)

One from Geneve:
Love this one:

What a good looking couple!

And then we took a couple more photos at the Biltmore Hotel, they have this beauuutiful lobby, check it out:
One more from Geneve:

Love this one:

And just a couple more of Jessica :o)

Jessica & Chris put so much work into all their details, everything looked sooo pretty!
And the reception room itself is just a piece of art … I loved those high, ornamental ceilings and beautiful chandeliers. How pretty!
And a couple photos from their cocktail hour. Deliciousness!

Ok, how PRETTY is the Biltmore?? Isn’t this room just gorgeous??

Hmmmm, one of my favorite photos from the day:

What a venue!

And check out the view they had!

Thanks again to Geneve for being my second shooter that day. Thanks G!! :o)

Last month I had the opportunity to assist Berkeley Photographer Stephen Hew as a 2nd photographer during a San Francisco wedding at St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the reception that followed at the Delancey Street Foundation in the Herbert Halper Town Hall. You can view Stephen’s photos of the wedding day HERE. After meeting up with Stephen at the San Francisco Courtyard Marriott where the bride was getting ready, my coverage started with a quick trip to St Ignatius church to photograph to guys. The ceremony took place inside the beautiful and awe inspiring St Ignatius church. After the ceremony is was time for a ride on a motorized cable car to visit a few spots around town, including a stop at AT&T Park home of the San Francisco Giants. After our last stop on the city tour is was time to head to the Delancey Street Foundation’s Herbert Halper Town Hall for the reception.
View from the balcony of wedding ceremony and the elegance of the church.

The guys pose for a photo just outside the Richard A. Gleeson Library – Geschke Center on the University of San Francisco ( USF ) campus where St Ignatius Church resides.

Just one of the amazing views in San Francisco. The twin towers and dome of St Ignatius church, and the Sutro Tower in the background.

So, I’m guessing this is the post that the majority of Nell and Steve’s family and friends have most been looking forward to – or perhaps dreading (you know who you are!!) My amazing and cute-as-a-button assistant Charlotte almost single-handedly took charge of the photobooth while I was workin’ the dancefloor. And what a magnificent job she did. Charlotte, you rock!

The parrot is always a winner … love these photos of Nell and Steve:

These guys were not shy

My favorite sequence of the night came from the guy eating the cake …

There were just too many great photos to choose from – oh, and hey – that’s me!

Thank you all for making this such an emotional, fun and beautiful day. I hope you’ve enjoyed the teasers – there will be a few hundred more photos to enjoy in the gallery … which will be along very soon!

After a highly emotional ceremony, everyone kicked back and relaxed for cocktail hour. The tent at Fruitlands was set up beautifully for dinner; I loved the wildflowers and book theme. Also, the books were favors – guests were encouraged to look through the stacks, swap with other tables, and take one or two home with them.

Cocktail hour was filled with good food, many drinks, and lots of little ones exploring the beautiful setting …

I love this place! So many neat backgrounds, and such pretty views …

We moved into the tent for dinner, and the evening started with some unofficial toasts.

After dinner were some (again unofficial) first dances, and then the party started …

Don’t worry – the crazy doesn’t stop there … along tomorrow will be the awesome photobooth images. These guys sure know how to bring the fun!

As I was thinking about what to post for Jennifer and Justin’s big day, I was seriously tempted to just let the pictures do the talking. Jennifer has one of the best expressive faces we’ve ever photographed, and Stacey was admittedly a little smitten by Justin in his classic three piece custom suit!
I knew from the moment we shot their engagement session up in Nashville earlier this year, that their wedding day images were going to be something special!
Jennifer and Justin’s big day took place here in Birmingham, but there family’s came from far and wide, including down from Nashville and Chicago. The ceremony was held at Third Presbyterian Church in downtown B’ham, and the reception was held at the trendy Matt Jones Gallery in the Lakeview District. We’re always excited to shoot at the Gallery! Since the art on the walls is constantly changing, every time we shoot there we get a totally different and unique backdrop! Also, many thanks to Celine Russell for her GORGEOUS hair and makeup styling!
This goregous couple did things their own way for their wedding day. No formal wedding parties, seeing each other for the first time in a private little nook on Morris Avenue, and giving us TWO portrait sessions on one of the hottest days of the year … for which we took FULL advantage!
To be totally honest, this is one of my favorite sets up wedding day portraits that we’ve ever put together. Jennifer and Justin, thank you so much for helping us create these awesome pictures! We’re so grateful for your trusting attitudes and willingness to brave some serious heat in the name of good pictures! Here’s what a little sweat on the wedding day got you …
