One of the things I love about our studio is the fact that it’s on Cherokee Street. There’s an energy and walk-ability that’s unlike any other area in St. Louis. It also offers up lots of spots to shoot, which we took full advantage of for Andy and Natalie’s engagement/family session by strolling a few blocks with their super cute son, Dresden.

This turned out to be such a fun family photo session at Donner Lake photographed by Tourine. My client called our studio with a vision for the session of her son fishing off the shores of the Lake. It turned out to be a perfect evening, and dad and son had a great time casting the line into the lake as I candidly photographed their family interaction.
While there may be some fish stories going around their household that are suspicious, these photos truly hit the mark on great family photography in Truckee.

And yes, I am totally biased because they are my niece and nephew. It is a rare and sweet thing to be close to your in-laws and I am blessed to be related to this family. My sister in law is one of my best friends and someone that is so easy and comfortable to be around. So glad I get such a cute family to photograph– I love you guys!

Chesney and I met in brief passing during that busy time right before a ceremony. She is a fantastic wedding planner (check out her site HERE.) It was one of those moments of meeting someone where you knew immediately, you liked them and they would be a good friend. Since last wedding season we’ve met up and a few times and realize just how much we have in common: being moms, running businesses, trying to juggle house & career. Anyway, I knew immediately we could be a great encouragement in our endeavors to propel our businesses forward and not lose sanity in the process. When Chesney told me she was updating her website, I knew she would want a new photo showcasing her newly expanded family and had to make it happen. Isn’t Ruby the cutest??? Anyway, we lucked out with the weather and ended up with a great, relaxing little session. Here a few of my favorites…

Larry and Kiki | Golden Gardens Engagement

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of photographing an engagement/family session for one of our June wedding couples, Larry & Kiki. Their 8 year old son, Connor, came along and brought lots of energy and spontaneity with him–it was a wonderful deviation from the norm! They really make a sweet family, and we enjoyed getting to know them during our time together. Larry & Kiki, it’s clear that you two love each other, and that you are both completely adored by Connor. We had a blast photographing your engagement session and can’t wait for your wedding next month!

Johnstone Studios Trash The Dress at Lake Tahoe

Angeli and Jon truly understand love. They came to Johnstone Studios for a nontraditional one year anniversary photo shoot. We decided a trash the dress session would be original, unique, and fun. Lake Tahoe was a natural choice because Angeli and Jon both love hitting the slopes. They even brought their gear along for props. I can honestly say this session was a blast, Angeli was up for anything. It was well beyond freezing out, but that didn’t stop her from running in the water and playing in the sand. Jon was just as excited about the session. He brought a knife to help trash Angeli’s dress. The experience was unique to both of them and a genuine, spontaneous way to celebrate their first anniversary together.

Any of my good friends will know that I love one thing. I seek it out on every road trip or city I go to. It is for the tastiest cupcake. I’m on pursuit. And I have to say that sweet little Arabella is the perfect little cupcake. A one year old that thoughtfully takes in her surroundings…the grass, leaves, playground…I loved watching her curiosity.
