First off, I want to let everyone know that Kristen is my first 2011 senior and wow, what a way to start off the year! Kristen is the current Miss Teen Daytona Beach and after working with her for 5 minutes, I could see why!
Congrats Kristen on all your amazing accomplishments and I wish you the best!

Heather and Steve were absolutely incredible! Steve is one of those grooms who doesn’t mind getting his photo taken and was all about making my job as easy as possible. Heather, well, as I said when I posted their engagement session, has one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve come across. You could see the love they had for each other when they both cried as she walked down the isle.
It rained hard for a little while before the ceremony and just like I thought, it stopped 5 mins before and allowed me to capture one of the best, hurricane’esk ceremonies I’ve ever photographed!
Well congrats Heather and Steve, I wish you both all the best the world has to offer!

Meet Miss
Laurie Ann, she is an absolute delight. We had the joy of meeting Laurie while we were in Calgary a couple of weeks ago. Laurie did an
all day mentor session with us. Laurie is the type of person who is a sponge, she actually reminded me a lot of myself in that respect. She brought along a notebook that was full by the end of the day. She scribbled down anything and everything that she could as Chris and I were talking and teaching and already just a week and a half later I head over to Laurie's site and see so many of the things that we talked about there :) Laurie is a girl that is humble and confident... such a brilliant combination when put side by side.
We covered a lot of ground in our 8 hours with Laurie. We shot together, we laughed, we had the best strawberry mango mint smoothie of my life, we got honest and we had a ton of fun. Laurie is radiant and I am so excited for the places she is going. Also, if you enjoy cooking, Laurie does a weekly post on her blog- she is an amazing baker and cook and she just did a post on some delish looking
mixed berry oat bars... mmmmm! Cannot wait to warm my home by giving my hand at those once our lives slow down a bit.
And for those that wrote on yesterday's post about my dad, thank you. It was a little scary to put myself out there like that, but it was something I needed to do for myself. It is nice to know this is a place we can be vulnerable. I appreciate each of you who wrote :)

I LOVE destination weddings and this wedding was a destination wedding for everyone that attended. Unfortunately, Katrina and Seth had some rough times with other photographers double booking on them so when they contacted me they were a bit scared to say the least. I was available, they booked and that was the end of their booking troubles. We traveled to St. Augustine a day early to scope out the venue but quickly realized that I had shot at the Lightner Museum back in 2008.
The Lightner Museum is probably one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever had the pleasure of working at. The architecture is absolutely stunning and when you fuse that with a couple like Katrina and Seth, it makes for one of my favorite weddings of all times!
Katrina and Seth were a blast! It’s always interesting when a client books you over the phone without ever meeting. But once we finally met, we meshed like we had met 50 times before.
Probably one of my favorite hair and make-up shots of all time!
Oh how I love the lines of the dress on the right!
There was another bridal party on the grounds so of course, that calls for a fight of the bridal parties! 
Love me some sun flare!
I don’t know of anyone in the area getting ring shots like me!

Karlie & Jordan have the longest standing relationship of any of our couples to date. They have known one another since pre-school. Jordan's mom was Karlie's pre-school teacher! How cute is that? Little did she know that one day that cute little strawberry blonde girl would be her daughter in law.
It's oftentimes that you meet a couple that has been together as long as these two and they no longer have that "FIRE" for one another. We've all met couples like that. I was so impressed by the absolute love, admiration and passion these two have for one another. They definitely still had the fire :). Jordan and Karlie love life and breathe it in deep. They also cherish one another and laugh at each others jokes; two things that I personally think are crucial for any relationship with longevity.
These two value the finer things in life like good music, good beer and quality time together. Midway through our shoot the rain settled in and I loved how it didn't even phase them. It showed so much about their character. The hair getting wet didn't matter, the cold and wind didn't seem to bother them much either, they got what this was all about and I love people who have a big picture perspective like that.

Katie & Thaddeus are the real deal. These two are down to earth and love each other with that "grow-old-with-you-enduring-kind of-love" it's really cute. Meeting these two for the first time was like a coffee date with old friends, it just flows with them. There is nothing pretentious about these two, and I think that is what I love most about them. They are honest, natural, authentic and loyal. There isn't a package of attributes that gets much better than that.
We went out last week for their engagement session and Seattle decided to bless us with it's sunshiny bliss. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spring day. Everything is in bloom right now in Seattle and it is absolutely yummy. I love this time of year as the color starts to glimmer through in the shape of spring flowers. Everything is starting over. I have always loved change and Spring and Fall are the seasons when the change happening around us cannot be ignored. Chris and I lived in Hawaii for a bit while we were in college and one thing I learned about myself while living there was that I NEED seasons. In Hawaii it was consistently beautiful 75 degrees and sunny. I really missed the changing seasons so now I am always extra thankful for them :).

Jessica & Matt are a husband and wife photo team out of Sacramento, CA. Chris and I had the pleasure of spending a day with them last week on an all day
mentor session here in Seattle! I think these two brought the sun up with them from California the day of their session... it was a gem of a day! We also discovered that it was Jessica's Birthday and it meant so much to know that that is how she chose to spend her special day. :)
These two asked lots of great questions and wanted to focus on how we work with our couples on a shoot, managing expectations, building a powerful brand experience, getting published and pushing their business overall to the next level. The shoot we arranged for Jess and Matt will be in a post to follow and it was SOOO much fun! We are so excited because these two are in the process of finessing and refreshing their overall brand experience and launching an updated site so their visit to us was timely. We really wanted to encourage Matt and Jessica to leverage their strengths as individuals and as a husband wife shooting team. I am a firm believer that you should exhaust more effort working on making your strengths even stronger than trying to fight with your weaknesses. And our experience has been that as a hubby wife team each of us should be empowered to do jobs that play to our strengths. That way each of us feels empowered, used and needed.
We wish these two all the best in their journey together as photographers. They are such beautiful people.
