The Conservatorie Floral Design Terrarium Making Class

This past Fall, the amazingly talented girls at The Conservatorie began offering classes at their adorable studio in St. Augustine. When I saw the one for terrarium design I was all in. I absolutely love terrariums and the simple, natural beauty they bring to any space. I have long been wanting to create my own so this was the perfect chance for me to learn the proper way to create and sustain one as well as spend time with two of the sweetest people I know. Amy helped us all craft some really beautiful little ecosystems and I was so happy that I actually created something all my own that was completely lovely. Here are a few shots of the class I was able to take in between getting my hands dirty and planting lovely little succulents.

In addition to their gorgeous floral design they recently added event design and planning to their repetoir. Their team has a rich background in set design and graphic design with years of experience working with the likes of Anthropologie and styling for commercial shoots and sets. I only wish I knew about such talent when I was getting married. For a wedding or event that is truly personal and unique you will want to brainstorm with these gals to come up with something more incredible than you could imagine. Seriously… I can’t say enough good things about these girls and the beauty they create.

Quebec City in winter

Just before Christmas Ryan and I decided to take a few days vacation for ourselves and travel to one of our favourite destinations; Quebec City. Quebec City is beautiful at any time of year but it was exceptionally stunning in the snow and with all the holiday lights. For a few days we just walked around the city visiting shops, eating the best croissants and onion soup in Canada and taking some much needed new couples portraits of us. If you know anything about Ryan and I, you know that we love to stay at the Canadian Fairmont brand hotels. We love them because they are steeped in history, and have a style of architecture that we believe to be very Canadiana (i.e: the copper roof to name one feature.)

This time we stayed at the fabulous Chateau Frontenac in Vieux Quebec. This is probably my favourite hotel of them all. What I find truly fascinating about it is some of the people who have stayed there, like Kings and Queens (Grace Kelly), even Alfred Hitchcock filmed the movie I, Confess there. We walked around the hotel picking out scenes from the movie and trying to figure out where Hitchcock would have sat while directing them. This is the 6th Canadian Fairmont we have stayed at thus far, so we are well on our way to our two year goal of staying at all 21 destinations over the next 2 years. It was a short trip. Actually it was too short so we are planning another trip to Quebec City for new years!

So excited to watch the fireworks over this beautiful city.

Quebec City is the best for night time photos. Every building is so creatively lit. Makes for some romantic cityscape photos.

BEBE AND DAGOGO IYA TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE: SNEAK PEAK – NIGERIA

Today was the first of several wedding ceremonies we are photographing for Bebe and Dagogo in Nigeria, Africa. This was called the Iya Traditional Marriage and involved Dagogo and his family traveling to Bebe's village to receive approval from the village Chief. We had such an amazing experience immersing ourselves in the local culture and everyone was so welcoming and kind ... there are really no words for an experience like this :-)! Simply beautiful! Much more to come on this ceremony and the wedding as a whole!

Kelly & Wayne – Niagara Falls Wedding

It’s always kind of a sad post when we talk about our last wedding of the year. 2011 has been an amazing journey for us. We are so thankful for the couples we have had the pleasure to photograph and the couples we will photograph for 2012. There is something in the air and I can feel that 2012 is going to be a great year.

Kelly & Wayne, who you know from the blog post of their engagement photos from earlier this week, came from Singapore to Canada, with just 2 close friends and were married in a small ceremony over looking Niagara Falls, in the Konica Minolta Tower. We had such a great time running around Niagara Falls taking photos. I love the first shot. For years, every time we drove past these arches in the park beside the falls I always made a mental note to take a photos of a couple in there one day. I am so happy with the result.

Congratulations Kelly & Wayne!! We cannot wait to show you the rest of the photos and your wedding and engagement albums! Thank you for choosing us to capture you Canadian destination wedding.

Jessica & Kyle’s Houston Texas Wedding Sneak Peek | Destination Wedding Photographers

Just two short weeks ago we were in Houston, Texas for the first time shooting Jessica & Kyle’s swanky Texan wedding at the Bell Tower on 34th. We had an incredible time while we were there and absolutely adored seeing the entire McLellan clan once again. I’m so excited to share more from this incredible event, but for now here is a preview of whats to come. Jessica & Kyle, we hope your honeymoon in the Caribbean was amazing and full of long days at the beach. I have to admit Kyle gets husband bonus points for having a helicopter pick you all up at the airport to escort you to your resort. He is a man that knows how to arrive in style! Most certainly, he is a keeper.

KEARY AND JESSE – TRASH THE DRESS SESSION, ANTELOPE CANYON, AZ

The day after their elopement, Keary and Jesse headed back out into the great unknown to do their Trash the Dress shoot. We first went to Antelope Canyon, which is spectacular beyond words. It's landscape of deep red carved walls are the definition of art in nature. We were so glad they were up for this suggestion. Not only have we always wanted to do a trash the dress shoot in Antelope Canyon, but it provided Keary and Jesse with truly unique wedding photographs that very few people can say they have. From there we headed out to Horseshoe Bend and finished in the water at Lake Powell. Simply a magical day :-)!

I just got done editing these photos and had to do a posting for these two - after all Keary is a self-admitted blog stalker, so how could I deny her seeing her own wedding on here :-). Keary and Jesse eloped back in September at the Coves at Lake Powell, Arizona. These two came all the way from Massachusetts to the wide open spaces of the west to get married and it was a very long road for them to get here - in every sense of the word. We couldn't be more happy that they finally traveled that road and that they allowed us to be a part of it! Keary and Jesse, it was so wonderful spending those two warm late-September days getting to know you both. We had a wonderful time and wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!

ELIZABETH AND DANIEL (LIZ AND DANNY) – TRASH THE DRESS SESSION, ROME, ITALY

The day after Liz and Danny's wedding, we headed back out into the streets of Rome to photograph their trash the dress session, We went to many of the historic sights, including the Colosseum, the Ancient City and the Spanish Steps and we finished up with a nice lunch, Italy-style - yum :-)!!

Liz and Danny's reception took place at the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria Hotel and was magical! The hotel was stunning beyond words and the hotel suite, a 2500+ square foot gem - the hotel's largest - was jaw-dropping in its beauty and was given to them by the hotl for two nights as a wedding gift ... WOW! The reception dinner was nothing short of superb. A seven course meal fit for kings that took 4 hours to finish and Liz and Danny and their families were kind enough to include us at this exquisite meal! Again, Liz and Danny, you welcomed us in and treated us like family and we still can't thank you enough for giving us this opportunity!
