We’ve made a number of trips out to Colorado in the past year in preparation for our move to Denver in July.  This most recent trip in December was definitely one of the best trips we’ve had.  We had the pleasure of speaking to the Denver SmugMug Users Group (SMUG) about our sales process as well as shooting a gorgeous stylized session at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, near Vail, CO!  We plan to submit the session to a number of blogs and magazines, but I just wanted to show a few images from this winter-themed wedding shoot.  Our most gigantic-est thanks to all of the people and vendors who helped us pull this off (pictured and listed at the bottom of this post)!

I’ve been so excited to share highlights from Kelly & Peter’s elegant November wedding at the Sanctuary Golf Course. Kelly was absolutely radiant, such a stunning bride.  And Peter looked dashing in his military dress blues.  I love how they light up around each other -  and their story is so romantic.. fates aligned to bring them together, meeting initially in Egypt, and then again in Washington DC. It was such a joy to be a part of capturing their day and I am so grateful. Huge thanks to CC from Colorado Wedding Company for introducing us. A few favorites..

so sweet♥ silhouette – gorgeous Colorado sunset  Congratulations, Laura & Noah!!

After hours of conversation, tons of research and multiple trips to the area, Adrienne and I are crazy-excited to announce that we’re moving to Colorado next summer!  We’ve set a tentative date of mid-July for the move, just after our last Nashville wedding we currently have on the books.

So what does this mean for our current clients?

Not much, honestly.  We’re still here and plan to be through half of next year, creating the same images you love and providing the excellent service you’ve come to expect.  There are just a couple of things you should know, though:

- We are still booking weddings in the Nashville area through July of 2012.  August 2012 and beyond will be set aside for Colorado weddings and destination weddings.
- If you have purchased, but not scheduled, a session, you’ll want to redeem that before July 2012 (unless you want to come out to Colorado for your session!)
- If you’re a wedding client and want to use your free yearly session, you still can, you’ll just have to come to us for it or wait until we visit Nashville (we plan to make a few trips back out this way and will announce dates before our trips).
- You’ll notice some changes around the blog and websites as we start optimizing our pages to show up in searches for Colorado photographers.  Most will be unnoticeable, but you may see a Colorado-related blog post here and there as we lead up to the move.
- Most importantly, starting in July 2012, you each have friends who live in Colorado.  So start planning your visits now, we’ll be a great home-base for your ski/snowboard/mountain biking trips!

We love Nashville and the family we’ve come to know through clients, vendors and other photographers in the area and leaving will be bittersweet.  The few people we’ve told about the move have asked “why Colorado?” and, while the answer is a bit long and drawn out, here’s the gist of it.  Adrienne and I have no family in the area and have no kids.  We have a job that allows us to live pretty much anywhere we’d like, as long as it’s close to a large enough market to sustain a business.    To be totally honest, we’re terrified to leave a city, client base and network of amazing vendors and fellow photographers that have been wonderful to us, but we know that if we don’t jump now, it’ll just be much harder to jump later.  When it comes down to it though, the move is mostly about being proactive with our lives; taking chances and risking a little in order to live the lives we want to live instead of just staying where we happened to land after I finished college.  I’ve got a line from a poem by Mary Oliver on the background of my desktop that, I think, sums up the spirit of why we’re moving:

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

We want to live our lives constantly asking that question.  This move is our first answer.

Torie & Matt tied the knot on a gorgeous September day during an emotional and heartfelt wedding ceremony at Keystone Ranch. It was a day surrounded by family and friends, full of love  and joy and infectious laughter. Simply perfect. Everything about this day was dreamy – from the incredible couple (so down-to-earth and fun to work with) to the spectacular Colorado mountain backdrop (ah-mazing views) to the vintage elements incorporated in to the wedding decor (burlap accents and cobalt blue, vintage suitcases and birdcages – ♥). It was an incredible event, coordinated to perfection by Josh at Bella Design and Planning, and such an honor to be a part of. A few faves..
