We’ve been looking forward to Ryan and Doherty’s wedding for what’s seems like a LONG time! Not only because they’re such a fun couple to be around, but because Stacey and Doherty have become great friends after studying through PT school together these past three years.
Every part of Ryan and Doherty’s big day was full of laughter and emotion. From the moment Stacey took the first frame of Doherty getting ready to walk down the aisle, to the newlyweds hopping in the limo … the huge smiles never left their faces. We were also blessed to have a ton of Stacey’s PT school friends at the wedding and reception, which made capturing some great candid shots that much easier!
Doherty and Ryan, thank you so much for letting us be part of this amazing moment in your lives. Here’s our take on your big day …
Doherty has such a contagious smile …
Loved Stacey’s shot of Doherty and her mom!
Ryan’s dad gave him some killer cufflinks …
Some of the bridal party …
And the beautiful couple …
Funny story. The folks at St. Stephen’s have a funky rule about not allowing photographers in the sanctuary during the ceremony, because it “disrupts the service.” Stacey and I would beg to differ, but we’re rule followers, so we got to hang out in the foyer during the ceremony. I wound up working through this “window” for our ceremony shots …
And some more of the newlyweds!
Doherty was so excited about going down to Morris Avenue for some more portraits before heading to the reception. These have such a classic feel to them! Loving the way they turned out …
The reception was held at the always-gorgeous Matt Jones Gallery in downtown Birmingham. Some reception details …
Awesome toast by Ryan’s best man …
… and the first dance …

Then the party REALLY got started …
The men singing YMCA …
… and a little Michael Jackson dance off between some of the wedding party …
And yes, for a third-straight week, the Colorbooth was rockin’ the reception! Stacey and I also wanted t send a quick shout out to our friends/clients Katherine and Scottie, who were a huge help throughout the day. We can’t wait to shoot their big day later on this summer!
