IN THE DESERT | HASSELBLAD FILM FRAMES

View Photographer Profile

when i first started in photography, before i had ever photographed a person, i used to just get in my car and drive drive drive until i saw something i liked, then i would take pictures. i would usually end up out in the middle of nowhere shooting quiet, broken down places. since we've had a photography business for going on eight years now, sadly, i've done less and less of this process that made me fall in love with photography in the first place. i had kids, got busy, and sold all my film cameras when we had no money and were struggling to buy all of our digital gear for our business. in the past few months i've been having a nostalgic longing to get back in bed with film and i've been buying up (ironically) all of the cameras i used to shoot with and i must say it has totally reinvigorated my love for photography. in that spirit, my dear friend and amazing associate shooter, michael chan headed out for three days of cruising around the desert with our film cameras to shoot whatever we saw. i am happy with the frames i made, but i realized i am actually much happier with the process...shooting everything on a full manual hasselblad has such a nice rhythm to it: walk...see...meter...frame...shutter...CHA-CHUNK (love the hasselblad mirror sound)...wind film...see more :)
