We first met Kay and Bobby at their maternity shoot back at the beginning of June. (Click here to revisit!) They were so laid-back and loving together, and everyone was on pins and needles waiting for little boy Bo to get here! When Kay called us to tell us he had FINALLY arrived, we were so excited! Mom and dad brough this little chunk-a-munk down to the studio a couple of weeks ago and we instantly LOVED how plump he was! He had tons of blonde hair and rolls galore! So CUTE (and perfect for newbie photos)! We had just gotten our new “special baby bean-bag” in and couldn’t wait to for Bo to be our first little model to try it out. He was so perfect and sleepy, just like we like ‘em! He snoozed away while Jennifer and I worked our baby magic. And we even had the chance to use an adorable teddy-bear hat Kay brought along – love it! Kay and Bobby, congratulations on your new bundle of joy! Thank you so much for letting us document this stage in his life and we can’t wait to see how much he grows in the next 6 months! Enjoy your sneak peek, and happy Friday…

These two little fellas are not related…they’re just too cute not to share witcha this morning! Both these sweethearts came in as part of our casting call (one of them twice!), and each sported one of our new Picsee hats. (Let’s hear it for accessories!) Bambino numero uno is little Carson…and you wouldn’t know it from the first two images below, but he’s got to be one of the most alert yet CALM newborns we’ve ever worked with! When he came in the first time he was toasty warm with a full belly, but would not close his little peepers for anything! He didn’t fuss, he didn’t squirm, he just chilled and looked all around the place…sleep was totally not on the agenda! Soooo, mommy brought him back a few days later – and perfecto! Adorable, sleepy, scrunchy Carson! And model-man number two (in the last 2 pics) is wee little Judson. SOOOO handsome! This darlin is the youngest of SIX kiddos (yes…I said six…his parents deserve awards and medals of honor!), so I think we could’ve had a marching band playing in the studio and he still would’ve snoozed through it! He relaxed on the daybed in the morning sunlight, rockin’ the aviator cap like a champ! It was a pleasure to photograph both these little guys…enjoy the baby sweetness!

When Aimee first contacted us about photographing her precious Pyper in March, she told us about the house they had just bought on a farm in Rural Retreat, VA. Christy and I are always up for new locations (and for travelling!), so we thought it would be the ideal place for the session! Since Pyper was only three months at the time, we waited a few more months so she could reach the “perfectly round, happy and sitting up” stage…6-7 months is SUCH a cute shoot-age! : ) Aimee also told us about the awesome barn doors that dad, Shannon, made for miss Pyper’s “farm themed” room, so of course we had to start there! They were awesome! (Can I get some in my house?!) Aimee is a huge horse lover, so we rounded them up and did our best to include them in a few shots…they were a lil camera shy, but Pyper thinks they’re too funny and that’s all the counts! Christy saw a beautiful barn in the back and we couldn’t wait to take the family out there, too. (Shannon even said that when they first looked at the house Aimee cried when she saw the barn, so they bought it! Ha!) Shannon and Aimee, you have a gorgeous home and an equally gorgeous little girl. We love your sweet, emotional images and hope you enjoy this little peek! (p.s. – Christy and I already know where your next session will be…the old train station! YAY!) See you soon!

Those of you who know me know that I LOVE to plan parties! Since the moment Daphanie told us she was preggo, Laura, Jayne and I have been hard at work designing and planning her babyshower. We knew we wanted it to be unique and different and of course totally awesome! We wanted to have nests incorporated, so we built our theme around that idea. Laura, Jayne and I got together a couple of times to plan out the details and discuss dinner options inbetween our busy work, kids and school schedules. We each have our own special talents and we definitely put those to good use! Jayne designed and hand made each invitation, which were to die for! Laura picked out the runner fabric for the tables and had her mom help sew it. She also created all the floral arrangements, frisco cups salads and desserts. I designed the menu cards and stickers for the jars and took pictures (along with Jen’s help) at the shower and made the pecan crusted stuffed chicken. It was really important for us to support our local businesses, so we tried to get everything we could at all of our awesome stores. The first place we hit up was Style. If you havent been there you must asap! Style is located two doors down from our studio in downtown Kingsport. We found some really cute wooden and mercury birds there that went perfectly with our theme. We also used Hobby Lobby (a lot), Evergreen, and Tennessee Florist Supply. We were able to keep the babyshower theme a secret from Daphanie for seven long months! I know, we cant believe we were able to do that either! She had absolutely no idea what we were planning and it was a total surprise. We even got some of the men involved in the festivities and had them act as waiters to serve us dinner! The morning of the shower was a LITTLE hectic placing the tables, making the flower arrangements, cooking, and making sure every last detail was perfect. The look on Daphanie’s face when she saw everything was SO worth it! She was totally surprised and cried when she saw everything! Daphanie we are all so excited for you and Joe! We are thrilled you enjoyed your babyshower and we cant wait to meet little Hayden!

Ahhhh it’s so bittersweet to see our Sweet Pea babies hit that one year mark! We first photographed the lovely Kendrick family over a year ago, when Preston was just a little guy (take a look) and then again last fall when he reached the sitting-up stage (awwww so cute!). This time, Jennifer and I met up with the gang in downtown Jonesborough, actually near where Maggie and Shannon were married. What a great place to celebrate Preston’s 1-year session! He looked like such a big boy when Maggie got him out of the car, with all those blonde locks and the cutest big-boy shoes! They even brought his favorite baby “man chair” along for a few shots – how fun is that?! Preston had just started walking, so it was totally adorable to watch him teeter-totter around the grounds! We got lots of good grins from this little guy (can you say ladies man?!) showing off those new teeth, and the images are so bright and colorful – love it! Maggie and Shannon thank you so much for allowing us Picsee chicks to document your sweet baby boy’s first year. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek and can’t wait for you to see your whole collection! Happy Monday!

Christy and I have been excited about meeting sweet Sarah Jane ever since her mom Ruth came to our open house last fall and booked her session! We thought about it over the winter, and since Sarah Jane loves being outside so much, we thought a summer shoot on the farm would be absolutely perfect! Ruth and dad Michael brought all kinds of goodies to keep Sarah Jane busy…the sidewalk chalk and handheld kite twirly things (forgot the name, but see the pic below – SO fun!) were especially big hits! This little girl is so full of fun energy and happiness – her love for mommy and daddy just shines so bright, and we had a blast running around and capturing all the smiles and sillyness! Michael & Ruth, we really enjoyed our time with you and your sweet girl. Love your images and can’t wait for you to see the your awesome collection! Enjoy and have a happy weeekend!

Abigail and Wade, we love your new bundle of sweetness, Miss Piper! When Abigail called to tell us this little princess had arrived, she also told us how wide awake and alert she was! Rut-roh! We were a bit concerned because, as always, we love nice sleepy babies for our newbie shoots… But when Piper arrived with mommy and daddy she was ready to snack..and sleep…snack…and sleep! It was perfect! We achieved the perfect snack/sleep ratio for adorable pictures! Abigail had found an awesome pink baby hammock for Piper and we were really excited to use it – one of our fave shots of the day! I love her! And not ONLY were we able to photograph a sleeping baby, but we even took an outtake shot of mom and dad taking a wee siesta! (Parents, this is proof positive that it’s okay to sleep while we work our baby magic!) Abigail and Wade, your Piper darlin’ is beautiful and we love your images so much!! We can’t wait to watch this babe grow! Enjoy your peek…

And for the sleep-deprived parents…don’t worry, you’ll be able to catch a 2-3 hour nap at the studio! ; )

Christy and I were super excited about shooting the Frohlich family a few weeks ago! We photographed eldest daughter Blaine’s senior session a couple months ago (remember the amazingness?!) and had a blast, so we were pumped to meet her younger siblings Makenzee, Sophie and Jake! Mom Karen loved the “downtown” urban-inspired shots we did for Blaine’s session, so we put a family spin on it for her! Makenzee worked the camera just like her big sis and Sophie had no problem showing us her sass and her girlyness! I loved it! Poor Jake is outnumbered by his three sisters, but that didn’t stop him from showing us Mr. Cool and enjoying the limelight all the same! Karen and Ken, you have wonderful children and a beautiful family…we loved documenting your style and personalities! You rock! Hope you all enjoy your sneak peek! (And p.s. - Thanks, Karen, for having the courage to travel on the “closed” road! It was totally worth it! And -shhhhh- it’s our little secret!) ; )

Jennifer and I first met bride Kimi when she and her mommy-in-law to be Bitsy came to the studio for her wedding consultation. She was beautiful, absolutely adobrable, and knew exactly what she wanted! (YES!) We fell in love with her instantly! So the date was booked and the engagement session planning began… After reading through the answer to Kimi and Luke’s couples questionairre, the ideas for their session started cookin’. Kimi is a bit of a fashionista and Luke is somewhat of a country boy, SO we thought the theme of “city mouse, country mouse” fit them perfectly! The two of them arrived on the day of their shoot along with their closet… ; ) We helped define the look for the session with their awesome wardrobe, some nifty accessories and even our fab studio daybed that had just arrived! We started out in the “city” of KPT and wound up at Luke’s family’s farm out in the beautiful Virginia countryside… And as soon as we turned the cameras on this sweet couple, they were in a world of their own! So natural and loving, relaxed and playful - we could definitely tell these two had been a couple for a looong time! (9 years!) Such a beautiful relationship to document. Kimi and Luke, Jennifer and I had SOOOO much fun with you guys! We’re honored to have captured your engagement and can’t wait to photograph the Big Day! Enjoy your super sneak peek and we’ll see you soon!

I have been friends with Daphanie since the fifth or sixth grade. I have been lucky enough to play dolls with her as a child, learn how to drive with her as a teenager, see her fall competely in love with her hubby Joe as an adult, and now add to her family with a sweet baby girl this fall. I can honestly say that I thought Erica would be an only child, so obviously I was TOTALLY elated when Daphanie told me the pregnancy news! The day of the session there was a 80% chance of rain, so we bumped up the the shoot time and went for it! We met everybody at ”the farm,” and when Daphanie stepped out of the car Jennifer and I squealed – LOVED her dress! Cute fashion + an even cuter belly = fun maternity! Erica and Joe were precious, loving up on Daphanie’s tummy - the emotion was so authentic and awesome we couldn’t help but take great shots! Then it became REALLY clear that our “chance of rain” was going to be more than just a chance – the storm was creeping up on us throughout the entire session! The whipping wind and darkening sky added so much drama and depth to the photos… We ran for cover before the clouds opened up, and THEN had the awesome idea to put Daphanie, bare belly and all, out in the pouring rain! (The images are UHmazing – and for Joe’s eyes only!) ; ) Daphanie, thank you so much for all your years of friendship and for trusting us to photograph this moment in your life. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek and can’t wait for you to see the whole collection!
