It’s true, I did a happy dance when I found out that Fort Worth-based Creme de la Creme Cake Company was going to be making the sweets for the event. The most amazing part was that I was finally able to meet the lovely ladies behind the most amazingly moist and favorable cakes I have ever witnessed. And I hugged them. And I thanked them. And I blubbered and gushed like an idiot about how much I loved their confections. That’s what their cakes do to me.

The highlight of every Modern Event is the food. It’s true. I never know what kind of nummies are going to come my way. My favorite? Chef Dena Peterson of Cafe Modern creates this candied bacon that makes my knees buckle and my mouth say “mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” – for an hour.
Warning. This post will make your mouth water.
(Food images by Vivian, she really out did herself.)

Mini Chicken Fried Steak Sandwiches

Sushi.

Chicken Chopsticks Salad / Gourmet Macaroni & Cheese Station

Coconut Shrimp Hors d’œuvres.

Candied bacon.
I will love you forever.

Dallas florist Dr. Delphinium created a happy burst of yellow centerpieces and bouquets for the open house at the Modern. The cascading tulips were a lovely and delicate departure from any centerpieces that I had seen before . Just beautiful.

I was so excited to be a part of the A Modern Event, The Art of Weddings at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. I will post three more features this week – showing off the florals from Dr Delphinium, the food from Cafe Modern, and the yummtastic cake & cupcakes from Creme de la Creme!

Ellen let me run wild with location choices from the beginning. Remember her & Caleb’s engagements portraits? Yep, we straddled that vintage, modern line from the beginning. I knew that not just any location would do for bridal portraits; and my text message didn’t hide my excitement: “I found the perfect location for your bridals!!!!! Will send images tonight!!!”. I held my breath that she would agree as I sent over the images. No hesitation from Ellen – she loved it! And we just love her!

This chic calla and feather bouquet is from the always fabulous Tami Winn. I love the vintage brooch accent.

Ellen & her sister Diane are the right amount of over the top silly. LOVE.

My favorite part – the portrait choice to display at the reception! Ellen and her mother agreed that this gorgeous one was the perfect choice – on a 24×36 canvas of loveliness!!

Ana is the kind of women who picks her outfit around a pair of shoes. Adam is soft spoken and nods yes more often than he says it out loud. They were a joy to photograph on a gorgeous February afternoon – an afternoon when I finally got a chance to meet the kiddos.
The older one is a tinge shy and takes after Adam with his soft personality. The younger is spunky with a flair for posing in silly ways. Ana & Adam stepped back and let me get to know each of them separately and we spent more time chatting then shooting. And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Horn tooting time … I was recently interviewed by Sean Taylor for the Smartpress Blog (Smartpress is touted as the #1 resource for graphic design, photography, and print!). Sean asked me about my work and also for recommendations for new photographers who are interested in entering the industry. I also got the amazing opportunity to showcase some of my favorite images.
Scoot on over to the Smartpress blog and read for yourself. I hope that you enjoy it; I am – as I have said before – tickled pink.
